1.These Regulations are prescribed by the Ministry of Agriculture
to implement the proviso of Paragraph 1, Article 29 of the Animal
Industry Act, and in accordance with the Announcement No.1061505452
issued by the former Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (on
June 28, 2017), designating that cattle and sheep slaughtered
for consumption in Islamic (Muslim) Eid al-Adha rituals are
exempt from slaughter at slaughterhouses.
2.An Islamic (Muslim) juridical person must, at least seven (7)
days prior to the date of the ritual, complete and submit to the
municipal or county (city) government where the ritual is to be
held: (1) an application form (Annex 1); and (2) and its certificate
of registration, documentation of the source of cattle and sheep,
and other relevant supporting documents.
3.Upon review of the application referred to in the preceding
paragraph, the municipal or county (city) government having
jurisdiction over the location of the ritual will issue a review
notification (Annex 2).
4.Where the application is approved by the municipal or county
(city) government having jurisdiction over the location of the
ritual, the cattle and sheep slaughtered for consumption in the
Islamic (Muslim) Eid al-Adha ritual are exempt from the requirement
to be slaughtered in slaughterhouses. However, all applicable
laws and regulations concerning animal protection and environmental
protection must still be complied with. |
